BW ESS acquires Yanco BESS project in New South Wales

ACEnergy has finalized the sale of the Yanco Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project to global energy storage firm BW ESS. Located in the Riverina region of New South Wales, the 250MW/1000MWh project is ready for construction.

Following the acquisition, BW ESS will manage the project through construction and long-term operations. The facility will connect to the Yanco 132kV substation to provide firming capacity, energy arbitrage, and system security services to the National Electricity Market. Once operational, the battery is expected to have the capacity to supply approximately 430,000 homes for four hours.

CATL has been appointed as the system integrator, while ACLE Services will serve as the Balance of Plant contractor. Both companies will also provide long-term operations and maintenance. Construction is scheduled to begin later this year, with commercial operations planned for 2028.
