Poland celebrates harvest season with regional Dożynki festivals
Various regional harvest festivals, known as Dożynki, are being organized across Poland to celebrate the end of the agricultural season and honor local farmers.
In the Podlaskie Voivodeship, the regional harvest festival is scheduled for August 22 in Dołubów. The event will feature religious services in both Orthodox and Catholic churches, a harvest procession, and official ceremonies. Attendees will include Minister of Agriculture Stefan Krajewski, Marshal Łukasz Prokorym, and Bogdan Dyjuk. The celebration aims to showcase regional traditions, culture, and local food, featuring folk groups and musical performances by artists such as Zenek Martyniuk.
Other local celebrations include the Dożynki in Mniów, featuring a traditional bread ceremony and a wreath-making competition won by KGW Sasanki, and upcoming festivities in Byczynia and Horodysko. These events typically combine religious ceremonies, folk music, and community gatherings to express gratitude for the year's crops.
