BYD aims to break 500 km/h speed record with Yangwang U9 Xtreme in Dubai

BYD is planning a speed record attempt for its Yangwang U9 Xtreme electric supercar in Dubai, aiming to surpass the 500 km/h mark. The company seeks to build upon its September 2025 achievement in Germany, where the vehicle reached 496.22 km/h at the ATP Papenburg oval, overtaking the top speed previously held by the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+.

Executive Vice President Stella Li stated that the attempt is targeted for November. To achieve the necessary velocity, the company requires a straight stretch of road approximately 15 kilometers long. BYD intends to coordinate with local police authorities in Dubai to identify a suitable location for the run.
