BYD and Wuling offer contrasting EV warranties in Indonesia

In the Indonesian electric vehicle (EV) market, manufacturers BYD and Wuling are employing contrasting warranty strategies to attract consumers.

BYD offers a warranty specifically for its Blade Battery, covering the traction battery for up to 8 years or 160,000 km. This protection is tied to the battery's State of Health (SoH), ensuring it does not drop below 70% capacity. Notably, BYD’s warranty is transferable to subsequent owners, which may support resale value.

Wuling provides a lifetime warranty on core EV components, including the power battery, drive motor, and motor controller unit. However, this coverage is strictly limited to the original owner and is intended for personal, non-commercial use. The warranty is void if the vehicle is used for commercial purposes such as online taxis or official government service.
