BYD Atto 2 hybrid SUV tested in India and launched in Brunei
Chinese automaker BYD's midsize Atto 2 SUV has been photographed undergoing road tests in India, with spy shots revealing a design that mirrors the international‑spec model. The vehicle is offered in both fully electric and plug‑in hybrid (PHEV) versions, featuring battery packs of up to 64.8 kWh for the EV and a 1.5‑litre gasoline engine paired with an electric motor for the PHEV, delivering roughly 190‑200 hp and a WLTP‑rated range of up to 1,000 km.
In Brunei, Maju Motors Sdn Bhd officially unveiled the Atto 2 at a showroom event, presenting it as an affordable sub‑compact plug‑in hybrid SUV. The Bruneian version is powered by the same 1.5‑litre engine and electric motor combination, achieving 0‑100 km/h in about 8.9 seconds. It features BYD’s Dragon Face design language, 18‑inch alloy wheels, LED tail lights, NFC keyless entry and a modern interior with a digital cockpit. The launch expands BYD’s presence in the Brunei new‑energy vehicle market.
