BYD Camaçari achieves customs certification amid labor strike

BYD's industrial complex in Camaçari, Bahia, has achieved the Authorized Economic Operator (OEA) certification from the Brazilian Federal Revenue. This milestone, reached in a record nine months, makes the facility one of only eight companies in Bahia to hold this status. The certification is expected to improve logistical efficiency by reducing costs related to storage and container demurrage, while allowing for more resilient inventory management.

Simultaneously, production at the Camaçari plant faced disruptions due to a labor strike organized by the Camaçari Metallurgists' Union. The strike, which affected the first two shifts of the production line, stems from a deadlock in wage negotiations. Workers are demanding a 9.5% salary increase to cover inflation and provide a real gain, while BYD has offered a 4.5% adjustment. The union estimates the stoppage could impact the manufacturing of approximately one thousand vehicles.
