BYD Denza Z electric supercar debuts at Goodwood as Lotus Emira 420 Sport claims fastest four‑cylinder title

BYD unveiled its new Denza Z electric supercar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The model, offered in Coupé, Spider, Racing and a future Special Edition, combines up to 2,000 hp from three electric motors and a 0‑100 km/h time as low as 1.7 seconds. Advanced systems such as Vehicle Motion Control and magnetorheological suspension aim to enhance handling and safety.

Lotus introduced the Emira 420 Sport, a gasoline‑powered sports car using a Mercedes‑AMG‑supplied 2.0‑liter turbocharged four‑cylinder engine that produces 416 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The car reaches 0‑100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and tops out at 300 km/h, earning the claim of the fastest production four‑cylinder in the world. Optional lightweight handling packages reduce weight by up to 25 kg and improve aerodynamics.

Both announcements highlight a trend toward extreme performance in high‑end sports cars, whether powered by electric powertrains or highly tuned internal‑combustion engines.
