BYD unveils Denza Z9S with 1,100 km range and five‑minute flash charging

BYD opened pre‑orders for the Denza Z9S luxury sedan in China, pricing the three variants between 319,800 and 389,900 yuan (about $47,000‑$58,000). The model is offered with a 102.3 kWh lithium‑iron‑phosphate Blade Battery 2.0 and claims CLTC‑tested driving ranges of 780 km, 920 km and a top‑spec 1,100 km (683 mi). BYD’s Flash Charging system can raise the battery from 10 % to 70 % in roughly five minutes and to 97 % in nine minutes when used with a compatible 1,500 kW charger.

Two powertrains are available: a single‑motor rear‑mounted unit delivering 370 kW (496 hp) and a tri‑motor layout producing a combined 890 kW (about 1,200 hp). The sedan measures 5,090 mm long, 1,980 mm wide and 1,490 mm high, and features advanced driver‑assistance systems such as God’s Eye 5.0. BYD’s Denza General Manager Li Hui said the range is “not meant to be remembered, but to be forgotten.” The CLTC figure is optimistic; EPA estimates would place the top version at roughly 772 km, still among the longest ranges for production EVs.
