BYD emerges as leading candidate for Morumbi Stadium naming rights

São Paulo FC is currently negotiating the naming rights for Morumbi Stadium, with Chinese automaker BYD emerging as the most advanced potential partner. The club is in discussions with at least three companies to secure a new deal as the current contract with Mondelez is set to expire after the 2026 season.

One proposed branding strategy involves a play on words, potentially renaming the venue ‘MorumBYD’. However, the club's board is also evaluating proposals from other companies that may not wish to integrate their brand directly into the stadium's traditional name.

São Paulo aims to secure a contract that offers higher annual revenue and a longer duration than the current agreement, which pays approximately R$ 25 million per year. The club is seeking the best balance between financial value, contract length, and commercial conditions.
