BYD enters top three volume brands in Austria

BYD has achieved a significant milestone in the Austrian automotive market, reaching the top three among volume brands in August. Excluding premium brands with high corporate customer shares, BYD ranked behind only Volkswagen and Škoda in the August passenger car registration rankings, driven by a private customer share of nearly 70 percent.

Since the beginning of the year, BYD has recorded 7,830 new registrations, representing a 3.7 percent market share and placing the brand eighth in the overall market. This follows a record year in 2025, where the brand saw 75 percent growth with nearly 7,000 registrations. The company aims to reach five-digit annual registration numbers this year.

Growth is supported by an expanding dealer network, expected to reach nearly 60 locations this year, and upcoming production in Hungary. Key models driving success include the Seal U DM-i, Sealion 7, and Seal U. Additionally, the company is working on introducing ‘Flash Charging’ technology in Europe, which aims to provide ultra-fast charging capabilities.
