BYD expands SUV lineup with Fangchengbao Tai 9 hybrid

BYD is expanding its large SUV lineup in the Chinese market through its Fangchengbao brand with the introduction of the Tai 9. This luxury three-row plug-in hybrid model features a 1.5-liter gasoline engine acting as a generator for a 66.5 kWh battery.

The vehicle is equipped with two electric motors, each delivering 268 horsepower, and offers an impressive electric-only range of 310 kilometers. The Tai 9 supports BYD’s Flash Charging technology, capable of power up to 1,500 kW. Measuring 5.27 meters in length, the SUV is larger than the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS. It is expected to be officially presented in late 2026.
