BYD expands vehicle lineup with new Seagull and Tai 9 models

BYD is expanding its vehicle lineup with new models for the Chinese market. The company is developing a second-generation Seagull, which will feature significantly larger dimensions than its predecessor. The new model is expected to be 425 mm longer, with a wheelbase increased by 15 cm, and will accommodate five passengers instead of four. It is anticipated to offer a range of up to 420 km based on the CLTC cycle, utilizing LFP batteries with capacities of 30 or 39.2 kWh.

Additionally, BYD’s sub-brand FangChengBao is preparing to launch the Tai 9, a large six-seat plug-in hybrid crossover, by the end of 2026. The Tai 9 features a luxury-oriented interior with large digital screens, wireless charging, and passenger amenities such as heated, ventilated, and massaging seats. The vehicle will be equipped with LiDAR for advanced driver assistance and an all-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain.
