BYD expands vehicle lineup with new Seal models in China and Argentina

Chinese automaker BYD is expanding its vehicle lineup with new releases in both the electric and plug-in hybrid segments.

In China, the company has introduced a new generation of the Seal 07 electric sedan following previous sales challenges. The updated model features larger dimensions, measuring 5,080 mm in length, and utilizes BYD’s Blade Battery technology. The entry-level version includes a 76.744 kWh LFP battery providing an estimated 636 km range under the WLTP cycle. A high-performance long-range variant is also available, featuring an 88.682 kWh battery and a motor producing 300 kW.

Simultaneously, BYD has entered the Argentine market with the Seal 5 DM-i, a plug-in hybrid sedan. Priced at approximately US$31,990, the vehicle aims to compete with established models like the Toyota Corolla. The Seal 5 utilizes Super Hybrid DM-i technology, combining a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor and a 7.68 kWh battery. It offers a combined driving range of up to 1,600 kilometers and a pure electric range of 50 kilometers according to NEDC specifications.
