BYD factory accident in Bahia leads to investigation after worker death

A Chinese worker, identified as Xiaoqing Huang, died after falling approximately 13 meters while performing work on a roof at the BYD industrial complex in Camaçari, Bahia. The accident occurred on Monday, November 19, involving a contractor providing services at the vehicle manufacturer's facility.

The Labor Public Ministry (MPT) has opened an inquiry to investigate the circumstances of the fall and determine responsibilities. The investigation will focus on whether safety regulations for working at heights were followed, including the provision of personal protective equipment (PPE) and necessary training.

Augusto Vasconcelos, Bahia's Secretary of Labor, Employment, Income, and Sport, stated that the state government will monitor the investigations conducted by the MPT and the administrative process opened by BYD. The Civil Police and the Regional Superintendency of Labor in Bahia (SRT-BA) are also involved in the inquiry to identify potential irregularities in working conditions.
