BYD gains market share in Brazil as Dolphin Mini hits top sales rankings
BYD is seeing significant momentum in the Brazilian automotive market, with the Dolphin Mini becoming the third best-selling vehicle in September. The electric hatchback recorded 9,385 units sold, trailing only the Fiat Strada and the VW Polo.
In practical performance evaluations, the BYD Dolphin SE has shown that real-world driving conditions, such as highway speeds and urban routes, can cause battery range to fall below manufacturer estimates. During tests between São Paulo and Jundiaí, the vehicle consumed more indicated autonomy than the actual distance traveled, highlighting how driving style and terrain impact electric vehicle efficiency.
The Dolphin SE features a 45.12 kWh battery with an NEDC-rated range of 405 km and supports fast charging up to 80 kW. While the model offers strong performance and equipment, drivers relying heavily on highways should account for lower effective range compared to official figures.
