BYD introduces plug-in hybrid version of Dolphin compact car
BYD is expanding the powertrain options for its Dolphin compact car by introducing a plug-in hybrid version, the Dolphin G DM-i. While the model was previously available only as a fully electric vehicle, the new hybrid variant combines a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor.
The hybrid system offers a total system output of either 129 kW (176 PS) or 156 kW (212 PS). Depending on the battery configuration, which ranges from 7.42 kWh to 18.3 kWh, the vehicle can achieve an electric-only range of 40 to 105 kilometers. The total combined range is estimated to reach up to 1,040 kilometers.
Pricing for the hybrid model starts at 28,990 euros, which is approximately 5,000 euros less than the purely electric version. The vehicle features a reported fuel consumption of 1.4 liters per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 32 g/km.
