BYD Korea adds AWD trim to Sealion 6 DM-i PHEV SUV

BYD Korea has announced the addition of an all-wheel drive (AWD) trim for its Sealion 6 DM-i plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) SUV, with pre-orders beginning on the 6th. Priced at 41.9 million won, the AWD model is 4.4 million won more expensive than the existing front-wheel drive version.

The new trim features electric motors on both front and rear axles, with each motor producing 204 horsepower. This configuration allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds. The AWD model also includes expanded battery capacity to 26.6 kWh, enabling an electric-only driving range of up to 93 km, which is a 23 km increase over the previous model.

Additional features for the AWD trim include mud and sand driving modes for off-road capability, a 10-speaker Infinity sound system, a head-up display (HUD), and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) support for external power supply. BYD has seen significant growth in the South Korean import market, with cumulative registrations from January to September increasing by 578.7% compared to the previous year.
