BYD launches DaTang EV flagship SUV with 950km range
On 17 June, BYD unveiled its DaTang EV flagship SUV in Xi'an, China, offering four versions with rear‑ or all‑wheel drive and LiDAR‑based driver‑assist systems. Prices range from 239,900 to 309,900 yuan (≈ US$33,000‑43,000). Buyers receive 13 exclusive offers, including one year of free fast charging.
The second‑generation Blade battery provides a claimed CLTC range of up to 950 km. Fast‑charging can raise the pack from 10 % to 70 % in five minutes and to 97 % in nine minutes, even in –30 °C conditions. In real‑world tests BYD reported 99.61 % urban efficiency and 97 % highway efficiency. The AWD model accelerates from 0‑100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
The SUV measures about 5.3 m in length with a 3.1 m wheelbase and seats seven (2+2+3). It features a 2‑row, 2‑seat “zero‑gravity” front layout, independent second‑row seats, extensive luggage capacity (10 hand‑carries with passengers, 47 storage compartments), and premium interior amenities such as a DiLink AI cockpit, a 27‑speaker Devialet sound system, and a Sky‑Mirror panoramic glass roof. Safety includes 84 % high‑strength steel, 11 airbags, and advanced tire‑burst control.
