BYD launches Dolphin G DM-i plug‑in hybrid for the European market

Chinese automaker BYD has introduced the Dolphin G DM-i, its first plug‑in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in the B‑segment, aimed at Europe. The hatchback measures 4.16 m in length and offers two battery options: a 7.5 kWh pack delivering about 42 km of electric range, and an 18.3 kWh pack providing up to 109 km. Power output varies from 176 hp (210 Nm) with the smaller battery to 212 hp (210 Nm) with the larger one, with 0‑100 km/h times around 8.3 seconds.

Pricing starts at €23,990 for the 7.5 kWh version and €26,990 for the 18.3 kWh version, positioning the Dolphin G DM-i competitively against other European city cars. It features AC charging up to 6.6 kW and DC fast‑charging up to 39 kW, a 7.8‑inch digital driver display, optional Google services, and a range of comfort options such as a panoramic sunroof and vegan‑leather seats. While initially confirmed for Europe only, BYD indicated the model could reach the Philippines by 2027.
