BYD launches Dolphin G DM‑i plug‑in hybrid hatchback in Europe
Chinese automaker BYD has introduced the Dolphin G DM‑i, a 4.16‑metre plug‑in hybrid hatchback aimed at the European market. The model combines a 120 kW (160 hp) internal‑combustion engine with a synchronous permanent‑magnet electric motor, delivering respectable performance for its size. With a wheelbase of 2.61 m, the car fits between the Škoda Fabia and Scala, targeting the small‑car segment that accounts for about 32 % of new vehicle sales in Europe.
The Dolphin G DM‑i is equipped with a 43.2 kWh LFP battery, offering a WLTP electric range of up to 310 km and an energy consumption of 13.9‑16 kWh per 100 km. The Comfort version listed in Slovenia is priced at €25,300 and features a 308‑litre boot (expandable to 1,037 litre), front‑wheel drive, 0‑100 km/h in 9.1 seconds, and a top speed of 150 km/h. Interior fittings include a large rotating central screen, USB‑C ports, and optional electric seat adjustment.
