BYD launches M6 DM plug‑in hybrid MPV in Indonesia, prices start at Rp298 million
BYD Indonesia officially introduced the plug‑in hybrid (PHEV) version of its popular M6 MPV, named the M6 DM. The model uses BYD’s Dual‑Mode (DM) technology that combines a 1.5‑litre gasoline engine (96 hp, 125 Nm) with an electric motor, allowing pure electric driving for short trips and gasoline assistance for longer distances. BYD claims the system can achieve fuel efficiency of up to 65 km per litre.
The M6 DM is offered in five variants – Classic Standard, Classic Dynamic, Cross Advanced, Cross Superior and the top‑end Cross Captain – with official prices ranging from Rp298 million (about RM76,000) to Rp390 million (RM99,500). President Director Eagle Zhao highlighted the MPV segment’s importance to Indonesia’s auto market, noting that BYD has already delivered more than 21,000 units of the fully electric M6 EV in the country. Operations Director Nathan Sun added that the new DM model provides a cost‑effective, environmentally friendly option for consumers. No plans for a Malaysian launch have been announced yet.
