BYD launches Qin Max electric sedan with flash‑charging capability

Chinese automaker BYD announced the Qin Max, a new B‑segment electric sedan positioned above the Qin L. The model is available in both pure‑electric and plug‑in‑hybrid versions. The EV variant offers two motor outputs—120 kW (160 hp) and 240 kW (321 hp)—and is fitted with BYD’s second‑generation Blade Batteries (52.9 kWh and 64.3 kWh) delivering CLTC ranges of about 530 km and 630 km respectively. A fast‑charging system, branded Flash Charging, can raise the battery from 10 % to 70 % in five minutes and to 97 % in nine minutes, with only a three‑minute slowdown at –30 °C.

The Qin Max measures 4,866 mm long, 1,880 mm wide and 1,495 mm high, with a 2,820 mm wheelbase, making it slightly larger than the Qin L. BYD described the sedan as a “completely different B‑segment fast‑charging sedan for young people.” The launch follows the Qin L EV, which sold over 10,000 units in its first week after its debut. BYD has yet to disclose pricing, but analysts estimate a price near 120,000 yuan (≈ $17,500).
