BYD launches Sealion 08 flagship SUV with 12,000 orders in one day

BYD has officially launched the Sealion 08, a flagship mid-to-large SUV within its Ocean lineup. The vehicle is available in both fully electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) configurations, with prices starting at 229,900 yuan (approximately $34,000).

Following its release on September 2, BYD reported that the model secured over 12,000 orders within the first 24 hours. The SUV offers various configurations, including five- or six-seat layouts and both two-wheel and four-wheel drive options.

Technical highlights include the use of BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and Flash Charging technology, which allows for a 10% to 70% charge in five minutes. The pure electric version offers a CLTC range of up to 900 km, while the plug-in hybrid variant provides a combined range of up to 1,650 km.

Premium features across the lineup include the DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension system, rear-wheel steering, and the God’s Eye 5.0 intelligent driving assistance system. The interior is equipped with high-end technology such as a 17.3-inch central infotainment screen and a 21.4-inch rear entertainment display.
