BYD launches Seal 5 DM-i plug-in hybrid sedan in Argentina
BYD has launched the Seal 5 DM-i in Argentina, marking the brand's first plug-in hybrid sedan in the country. The vehicle utilizes Super Hybrid DM-i technology, combining a 1.5L gasoline engine with an electric motor to deliver a combined power of approximately 175-178 CV.
A key selling point is its reported combined autonomy of up to 1,600 kilometers under the NEDC cycle, which is cited as the highest in the Argentine market. The sedan features a 522-liter trunk, which can expand to 1,295 liters with the rear seats folded. It is expected to compete with models such as the Toyota Corolla and various Chinese competitors like the Chery Arrizo.
Christian Kimelman, Country Manager for BYD Argentina, noted that the launch aims to bring advanced hybrid technology to new user profiles. The vehicle is priced starting at approximately US$ 31,990.
