BYD launches sub‑$30k 7‑seat electric SUV and £105k Denza Z9GT luxury EV

Chinese EV maker BYD is preparing two contrasting vehicle launches. In the United States, the company plans to introduce a seven‑seat electric SUV with an advertised range of up to 497 miles (800 km) and ultra‑fast flash charging, priced below $30,000. The model is positioned as a low‑cost family EV that could broaden market accessibility.

In the United Kingdom, BYD’s premium Denza brand announced the Z9GT, a high‑performance luxury electric shooting‑brake priced at £105,000. The Z9GT uses a second‑generation 122 kWh Blade battery and claims to add about 224 miles of range in five minutes via 1,500 kW flash chargers, with a total range of around 373 miles. It delivers 1,140 bhp, accelerates to 62 mph in 2.7 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 167 mph. BYD intends to install 300 flash chargers in the UK within a year, growing the network to 600 units.
