BYD leads Austrian high-volume car brands in low CO2 emissions

BYD has recorded the lowest average WLTP CO2 emissions among the ten highest-volume automotive brands in Austria for the period from January to September 2026. According to registration data from Statistik Austria, the Chinese manufacturer averaged 15 grams of CO2 per kilometer, leading the second-placed brand in the top ten ranking by 55 grams.

The company’s low emission profile is driven by its focus on electrified vehicles. Approximately 70 percent of BYD’s sales in Austria consist of battery-electric vehicles, while the remaining 30 percent are plug-in hybrids. Danijel Dzihic, Managing Director of BYD in Austria, stated that the combination of high sales volumes and low emissions demonstrates the success of the company’s core strategy as an electric vehicle brand.

Additionally, the BYD SEAL U DM-i remains the best-selling plug-in hybrid passenger car in Austria. Following customer feedback, the model is undergoing updates for the 2027 model year, including a sportier chassis, improved steering, increased luggage capacity, and an updated multimedia system featuring Google navigation.
