BYD Motor Indonesia rebrands Denza to Danza
BYD Motor Indonesia has officially rebranded its premium automotive brand from Denza to Danza for the Indonesian market. The name change, which involves replacing the letter ‘e’ with ‘a’, follows a legal dispute regarding trademark ownership.
The decision comes after the Supreme Court of Indonesia rejected a cassation appeal filed by BYD Company Limited in a case against PT Worcas Nusantara Abadi. The court ruled that BYD's lawsuit contained an ‘error in persona’, noting that the Denza trademark had reportedly been transferred to PT Raden Reza Adi via a notary deed in September 2024.
Luther Panjaitan, Head of Public Relations and Government Relations for BYD Motor Indonesia, stated that Danza was previously prepared as a backup brand should the trademark issue remain unresolved. He emphasized that the rebranding is part of the company’s commitment to developing the premium mobility segment in Indonesia and will not affect the quality of service or technological standards provided to customers.
