BYD placed 91st in Fortune Global 500 2026 as Asian automakers dominate list

Chinese electric‑vehicle maker BYD secured the 91st spot in the Fortune Global 500 2026 ranking, its fifth consecutive year among the world’s 100 largest companies. The firm reported 2025 revenue of RMB 804 billion (US$111 billion) and net profit of RMB 32.6 billion (US$4.5 billion), sold 4.6 million new‑energy vehicles and produced its 17 millionth NEV in July 2026. BYD’s R&D spending reached RMB 63.4 billion in 2025 and RMB 11.3 billion in the first quarter of 2026, supporting the launch of its second‑generation Blade battery and FLASH‑charging technology, with plans for 20 000 domestic and 6 000 international fast‑charging stations.

The Fortune list includes 23 automobile manufacturers, accounting for about 6.4% of total revenue of the 500 firms. Asian companies dominate with 15 entries, eight of which are Chinese (BYD, SAIC, Geely, FAW, GAC, Dongfeng, Chery, BAIC). Japan contributes four makers, India one, Europe five, the United States three, and South Korea two. Toyota and Volkswagen remain the sector’s top earners, ranking 14th and 13th respectively with combined annual sales near US$700 billion.
