Dacia develops Hipster electric microcar for 2027 production

Dacia is reportedly developing the Hipster, a compact electric microcar intended for urban mobility, with potential production slated for 2027. Following its 2025 concept presentation, the model is expected to target the European L7e category, which classifies it as a heavy quadricycle. This classification could allow for lower manufacturing costs, reduced weight, and simplified technical complexity.

The Hipster is designed to be a highly accessible electric vehicle, potentially priced between €9,500 and €11,000. Despite its small footprint—approximately three meters in length—the vehicle is expected to accommodate four passengers. Technical details suggest a focus on essential urban needs, with a focus on keeping the battery and motor power within L7e limits to maintain affordability.

While reports suggest the project is in an advanced stage, Dacia leadership has not officially confirmed the production timeline. Brand head Katrin Adt has advised the public to await official announcements, though design chief David Durand noted the project is currently in development and awaiting final management approval.
