BYD Racco electric kei car sees rapid sales growth in Japan
BYD’s new electric kei car, the Racco, has achieved rapid success in the Japanese market, securing over 1,000 orders within just two weeks of its launch. This represents the fastest sales pace for any model introduced by the Chinese manufacturer in Japan. The Racco 300 Premium variant is the most popular, accounting for 80 per cent of total orders.
The vehicle features a range of specifications, with battery options providing between 210km and 320km of range. This maximum range offers a significant advantage over established competitors like the Nissan Sakura, which has a WLTC rating of approximately 112km.
Reviewers have noted that the Racco offers a driving experience that exceeds typical expectations for the kei car segment, highlighting its smooth ride and high-quality interior finish. The vehicle includes modern features such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen as standard.
