BYD ranks among most reliable car brands in OCU study
A recent reliability study conducted by the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) and nine other European consumer organizations has placed the Chinese manufacturer BYD among the most reliable car brands. Based on data from over 85,000 drivers, BYD earned a score of 89 out of 100, placing it ahead of several major European manufacturers, including Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and BMW.
While BYD ties with Tesla in this ranking, Japanese brands continue to dominate the top tier of the index. Lexus leads the ranking with 93 points, followed by Subaru, Toyota, and Suzuki with 91 points. Other Chinese brands mentioned in the report, such as MG and Lynk & Co, scored lower at 72 and 76 points, respectively.
The report notes that BYD’s high score is supported by its vertical integration, as the company controls the manufacturing of most components, including semiconductors and batteries. This technical approach, utilizing platforms like e-Platform 3.0, is credited with reducing software and component incompatibilities.
