BYD reaches 5% of UK car market after selling 100,000 vehicles

Chinese automaker BYD has sold more than 100,000 electric cars in the United Kingdom within three years, giving it a 5 % share of new‑car registrations. The company entered the UK market in 2023 and quickly expanded its model range, now offering six fully electric models – the Dolphin Surf, Dolphin, Atto 2, Atto 3 Evo, Seal and Sealion 7 – as well as six plug‑in hybrids such as the Atto 2 DM‑i and Seal 6 DM‑i.

To support its growing fleet, BYD plans to install 300 fast‑charging stations across the country, using its Flash Charging technology capable of up to 1.5 MW output. The rapid growth has drawn attention from other manufacturers as BYD’s pricing, quality and extensive charging network boost its popularity among UK consumers.
