BYD enters pick-up segment with Shark DMO hybrid

BYD has introduced the Shark, its first plug-in hybrid pick-up, featuring DMO (Dual Mode Off-road) technology. The vehicle is designed to compete in the European market, offering a significant electric-only range of approximately 90 kilometers, supported by a 32.2 kWh battery.

The Shark DMO delivers 436 PS and is expected to enter the German market in early 2027 with an estimated starting price between 50,000 and 60,000 euros. This positioning aims to attract commercial customers by qualifying for favorable company car taxation due to its high electric range.

In addition to its performance specifications, the Shark has achieved a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP. To support utility and lifestyle needs, official accessories from Truckman are being developed for the UK market, including hardtops, bed covers, and heavy-duty cross bars.
