BYD to launch integrated parking and charging payments for European EVs

Chinese automaker BYD announced plans to embed a unified payment system, called ParkPay, directly into the infotainment units of its electric vehicles sold in Europe. The service, developed with parking‑data provider Parkopedia, will initially offer in‑car location, price and availability information for parking spots and enable drivers to pay without using separate smartphone apps. A rollout is scheduled for 2027, starting with BYD models such as the Denza Z9 GT and Atto 3 Evo, with over‑the‑air updates planned for older vehicles.

ParkPay will later expand to include public‑charging station access, road‑tax payments and reservation features. The system runs on Android Automotive OS and will incorporate Google services. In the United Kingdom BYD will partner with RingGo, while across the rest of Europe it will use EasyPark to broaden coverage. The integration aims to simplify the fragmented digital experience that electric‑vehicle owners currently face, especially in Romanian cities where parking and charging are often managed by multiple apps and cards.
