BYD to launch Sealion 5 hybrid SUV in Vietnam

BYD has announced the upcoming launch of the Sealion 5, a new C-SUV model, in the Vietnamese market. The vehicle is expected to arrive in October and will be imported from Thailand.

The Sealion 5 features the DM-i Super Hybrid powertrain, which combines a 1.5L gasoline engine with a high-power electric motor and BYD’s Blade Battery technology. Depending on the battery configuration, the vehicle offers an electric-only range of approximately 82 km to 110 km. When combined with a 52-liter fuel tank, the total driving range can exceed 1,200 km, with fuel consumption reported as low as 0.8 L/100 km.

Dimensions for the model include a length of 4,735 mm and a wheelbase of 2,712 mm. The vehicle is expected to be available in two versions, potentially named Dynamic and Premium. Interior features include a cargo capacity of 530 liters, expandable to 1,482 liters, and various technological integrations such as NFC Digital Key and rotating touchscreen displays.
