BYD unveils global plug‑in hybrid Dolphin and cargo e‑Van

BYD has revealed the Dolphin G DM‑i, its first purpose‑built global plug‑in hybrid hatchback. The VW Polo‑sized PHEV offers a combined range of over 621 miles (1,000 km), a 1.5‑liter petrol engine paired with an electric motor, and is priced around £20,000. Deliveries in Europe are slated for the summer.

The company also launched the Dolphin Cargo e‑Van for the UK fleet market. By removing rear seats and adding a metal bulkhead, the van provides more than 1,090 L of cargo space and a WLTP combined range of over 500 km thanks to a 60 kWh blade battery. It starts at £29,358 and includes fleet‑focused features such as Vehicle‑to‑Load power, a heat pump, heated steering wheel and seats, and a 360° camera.

Both models expand BYD’s product line, targeting private buyers in Europe and commercial delivery operators in the UK, while reinforcing the Chinese automaker’s push into global markets.
