BYD rolls out new Racco K‑Car in Japan, unveils Ti 7 SUV and sponsors Italian music awards
Chinese automaker BYD introduced the Racco, a pure‑electric K‑Car aimed at the Japanese market and priced around €11,000. The company announced more than 700 orders for the model, though official sales during the first four days were 125 units. BYD plans to expand its Japanese retail network to about 100 stores by the end of 2026 and 120 by the end of 2027, targeting smaller cities and rural areas.
In Europe, BYD unveiled the Ti 7, a seven‑seat plug‑in hybrid SUV priced at roughly £48,000 (about €56,000). The vehicle offers an electric‑only range of up to 119 km and will be launched in the United Kingdom in November 2026, with customer deliveries beginning in January 2027.
BYD also became the title sponsor of the 2026 Music Awards in Verona, Italy, renaming the event the BYD Music Awards. The partnership includes providing BYD Dolphin G DM‑i electric‑hybrid cars for artists and guests.
On 1 August 2026 the Liberia‑flagged car carrier MV BYD CHANGZHOU docked in Manta, Ecuador, delivering 808 BYD vehicles. The 199‑metre vessel is part of BYD’s logistics network for new‑energy vehicles.
