BYD launches luxury Yangwang U8L SUV and expands Sealion line

Chinese automaker BYD announced a four‑seat version of its Yangwang U8L luxury SUV, priced above US$179,400 and equipped with a second‑generation Blade battery, fast‑charging capability (5‑minute rapid charge) and a range of up to 230 km (electric) or 1,205 km (combined). The model features a full‑aluminum chassis, water‑fording ability for 30 minutes and a 23‑inch wheel design.

BYD also revealed details of the large‑size Sealion 08 SUV, which will be offered with six seats, power outputs up to 796 hp in the all‑wheel‑drive version, and a LiDAR‑based autonomous‑driving package. The vehicle can achieve a CLTC range of 710–900 km depending on battery size (92 kWh or 115 kWh).

In Brazil, two BYD Sealion 06 prototypes – the successor to the Song Plus – were spotted on a transport platform near São Bernardo do Campo, suggesting testing or a potential market launch. The model is available in hybrid‑plug‑in and fully electric variants, with power outputs between 231 hp and 245 hp and ranges of 520–605 km (Chinese test cycle).

Separately, BYD released teaser images of a visual refresh for the Seal 06 EV sedan in China, showing new front and rear bumpers, updated lighting, a Lidar sensor on the roof and revised alloy‑wheel designs.
