BYD unveils second-generation Seagull electric hatchback
BYD has introduced the second generation of its Seagull electric hatchback in China, featuring significant mechanical and technological upgrades. The new model is larger than its predecessor, measuring 4,205 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm, allowing for a five-seat configuration and increased luggage capacity.
Key engineering changes include a shift to rear-wheel drive and the replacement of a semi-independent axle with an independent multi-link suspension. The vehicle is offered in two versions with 85 kW and 95 kW motors, powered by 30.1 kWh or 39.2 kWh LFP batteries. These provide a CLTC range of between 320 km and 420 km.
A major highlight is the Flash Charging technology, which can charge the battery from 10% to 70% in five minutes using compatible BYD chargers. Additionally, the model features advanced driver assistance systems, including the LiDAR-based DiPilot 300 system, which supports autonomous parking and navigation on urban and highway roads.
