BYD unveils ultra‑fast Qin Max and launches Yuan Up plug‑in hybrid SUV in Colombia

Chinese automaker BYD announced its upcoming Qin Max sedan, which will use a second‑generation Blade battery and can charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes and reach 97% in nine minutes. The model, slated for an August launch, offers 120 kW or 240 kW motor options, two battery sizes (52.9 kWh and 64.3 kWh) and a range of up to 630 km. BYD plans to install about 20,000 ultra‑fast charging stations worldwide by the end of 2026. The company is also confronting a sharp profit‑margin squeeze in China’s auto market, where sector operating margins fell to 3.4% in early 2026.

In Colombia, BYD introduced the Yuan Up DM‑i, a plug‑in hybrid SUV equipped with a 145 kW electric motor, a 1.5‑L gasoline engine and an 18.03 kWh Blade battery integrated into the vehicle’s structure. The SUV delivers up to 100 km of pure electric range and a combined 1,100 km range, targeting the growing demand for electrified SUVs in the Colombian market.
