Chinese automaker BYD unveiled a major refresh of its Seal 06 sedan for the 2027 model year, adding a roof‑mounted LiDAR sensor, a longer body (4 870 mm) and higher‑output electric motors—120 kW or 240 kW for the pure‑EV version and up to 322 hp for a higher‑spec variant. The updated model also carries larger Blade‑type LFP batteries, though exact capacity and range figures were not disclosed.

In Southeast Asia BYD launched several new models. The Atto 2 SUV went on sale in the Philippines with both a BEV version (up to 380 km electric range) and a Super DM‑i plug‑in hybrid (45 km electric‑only, 1 340 km combined range). A facelifted Seal 5 DM‑i sedan was also introduced in the Philippines, offering a combined range of up to 2 181 km.

The company introduced the Sealion 7 electric SUV in Malaysia with three trims—Dynamic (RWD, 170 kW, 0‑100 km/h in 7.3 s, 520 km NEDC range), Premium (RWD, 230 kW, 0‑100 km/h in 6.9 s, 650 km range) and Performance (AWD, 390 kW, 0‑100 km/h in 4.5 s, 600 km range). Prices start at RM 163 800. A Brazil‑specific version was also announced, delivering 531 hp, 690 Nm and a 360 km PBEV range.

BYD highlighted its growing market presence, noting that it now holds a 22.3 % share of new‑vehicle sales in the Philippines, making it the country’s second‑best‑selling car brand. To support this growth, BYD and its Philippine partner AC Mobility aim to install about 500 charging points by the end of 2026 as part of a national target of 7 300 stations by 2028.
