BYD updates Dolphin electric vehicle lineup with new models and tech
BYD is rolling out updates for its Dolphin electric vehicle lineup, including the Dolphin Mini and the Dolphin Surf.
In Brazil, the 2027 BYD Dolphin Mini has begun arriving at dealerships. The updated model features visual changes such as redesigned spoilers, darkened wheels, and a new ‘Light Grey’ metallic paint option. The GS version now utilizes Pirelli Cinturato P6 tires, increasing the width by 10 mm. While the mechanical components remain unchanged—featuring a 75 cv electric motor—the GL version offers a 224 km range, while the GS version provides up to 280 km.
Globally, the BYD Dolphin Surf has been unveiled with several technological and structural upgrades. A significant change is the introduction of a five-seat configuration, achieved by adding a fifth headrest, though the 308-liter trunk capacity remains the same. The interior has been modernized with a larger 12.8-inch central display featuring Google Built-in, providing direct access to Google Maps and the Play Store. Additionally, the digital instrument cluster has increased from 7 to 8.8 inches, and the gear selector has been moved to the steering column to improve ergonomics.
