BYD Yangwang U7 completes 30,000 km extreme durability test
BYD conducted an extreme durability test on the Yangwang U7 electric sedan in Nanning, China, covering 30,000 kilometers in just 8 days, 19 hours, and 58 minutes. The test involved driving at continuous speeds of approximately 240 km/h under harsh environmental conditions, including temperatures exceeding 36°C and 80% humidity.
During the trial, the vehicle underwent more than 350 ultra-fast charging sessions using BYD’s second-generation Flash charging technology, which can charge a battery from 10% to 97% in roughly nine minutes. Despite the intense thermal load and frequent high-power charging cycles, the 150 kWh battery retained 98.7% of its original capacity.
Yangwang leader Hu Xiaoxing noted that the vehicle used in the test was a randomly selected production model rather than a specialized prototype. This testing comes as China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology prepares to implement new reliability regulations requiring at least 30,000-kilometer durability tests for new vehicles starting in 2027.
