Bydgoszcz City Council adopts new urban General Plan

The Bydgoszcz City Council has passed its General Plan, a comprehensive planning document designed to guide the city's spatial development and land use. The plan establishes planning zones and urban standards to facilitate harmonious growth, including the creation of modern residential areas, investment sites, and the protection of green spaces.

The adoption of the plan was marked by significant debate and tension during the council session. Protesters and members of the Bydgoska Prawica opposition raised concerns regarding potential ties between the city administration and real estate developers. Specifically, disputes centered on the development of the Górki Fordońskie area and residential construction near the Remondis waste incineration plant.

In response to public consultations, the city administration modified certain aspects of the plan, such as limiting multi-family housing in the Górki Fordońskie upper terrace to single-family homes and converting a multi-functional zone near Orląt Lwowskich street into a green and recreational zone. Mayor Rafał Bruski defended the administration's transparency and noted that developers play a significant role in modern housing supply.
