Bydgoszcz officials reject proposal to expand speedway stadium

Bydgoszcz city officials have rejected a proposal from local councilors to expand the speedway stadium on Sportowa Street to 18,500 seats. The proposal, submitted by councilors Wojciech Bielawa and Paweł Bokiej of Bydgoska Prawica, follows the promotion of Abramczyk Polonia Bydgoszcz to the PGE Ekstraliga.

The councilors argued that the current planned investment, which aims for a capacity of approximately 13,500, would limit the club's growth potential given the high demand for speedway matches. They requested a thorough analysis to prevent future technical or financial difficulties in expanding the facility further.

In response, Bydgoszcz Deputy Mayor Łukasz Krupa stated that the city has not analyzed the costs of increasing the capacity to 18,500 and that current plans remain unchanged. The planned modernization project is expected to cost approximately 60 million PLN and will adhere to its existing parameters.
