BYD's Denza to launch 950‑hp electric Z9 GT in Europe
Chinese automaker BYD plans to introduce its premium Denza Z9 GT sport wagon to the European market at the end of 2024. The fully electric model will deliver 950 hp, 710 Nm of torque and accelerate from 0‑100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, powered by a 100 kWh battery offering a CLTC range of about 630 km. Pricing will exceed the current top‑end BYD offering in Europe, topping €72,000.
The Z9 GT will be produced in China for export, while BYD will start manufacturing at its first European plant in Hungary in October, with a second facility in Turkey slated to open in March 2026. Together the two plants are expected to reach an annual output of 500,000 vehicles. BYD’s special adviser for Europe, Alfredo Altavilla, said Denza will serve as a technology showcase that will later inform BYD‑branded models.
