BYD launches ultra‑long‑range sedans and record‑chasing electric supercars

Chinese automaker BYD, through its premium Denza brand, unveiled a series of high‑performance electric vehicles in 2026. The Fang Cheng Bao Formula S sedan family is slated for a Q3 2026 launch in China with a battery pack up to 92 kWh delivering a CLTC‑rated range of 830–900 km, while the lift‑back version offers 720 km on a 76 kWh pack. The Denza Z supercar, equipped with three electric motors for a combined output of 1 604 hp (1 164 kW) and a 76 kWh Blade battery, accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.25 seconds and generates more than 2 000 kg of downforce on the Nürburgring, where a special‑edition prototype is being tested for a future record run. BYD’s Yangwang U9 Xtreme aims to break the 500 km/h barrier after previously reaching 496.22 km/h on a German test track. The Denza BAO 5 plug‑in hybrid SUV combines a 1.5 L turbo engine with two electric motors for 544 hp, a 31.8 kWh battery that provides up to 90 km of electric range and a total WLTP‑rated range of 835 km. A refreshed Denza D9 minivan variant, priced at €42 600, adds a 58.5 kWh battery and a combined electric range of 350 km, extending to 1 480 km when the gasoline engine assists. Finally, the BYD Da Han full‑size sedan features a 102 kWh LFP battery weighing 726 kg, delivering an estimated 970–1 008 km CLTC range, with power outputs of 370 kW (RWD) or 570 kW (AWD).
