BYD launches high‑performance Denza Z9S electric sedan with over 1,200 hp and European orders

Chinese automaker BYD has unveiled its premium Denza Z9S electric sedan, a fast‑back luxury model capable of up to 1,210 hp (1,194 hp in some reports). The top‑spec version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.96 seconds and reaches a top speed of about 350 km/h. Three powertrain options are offered: a single‑motor rear‑wheel‑drive (435‑503 hp), a dual‑motor layout (up to 1,200 hp) and a triple‑motor performance variant delivering the maximum output.

The sedan uses a 102‑kWh blade‑type battery, providing up to 920 km of range under the Chinese CLTC cycle, reduced to around 780 km for the highest‑output version. BYD has begun taking global reservations, with more than 1,000 buyers committing without a test drive. In Europe the electric Denza Z9S (and the related Z9 GT) will be priced above €115,000, compared with a starting price of roughly €34,000 in China, reflecting a three‑fold price gap.

Deliveries are expected in China by the end of 2026, with a roll‑out across major European markets—including the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Slovenia—planned for the following year. The launch aims to position BYD alongside established premium brands such as Porsche, Mercedes‑EQ and BMW in the high‑end electric‑vehicle segment.
