Byeonsan-myeon youth group hosts birthday events for elderly residents

Byeonsan-myeon in Buan-gun has implemented a specialized community project called ‘Happy Birthday Table’ to support elderly residents living alone. The initiative, coordinated by the Byeonsan-myeon Local Social Security Committee, aims to reduce emotional isolation through resident-led care.

Members of the Baramkkot Youth Association participated as volunteers, visiting elderly residents to deliver birthday meals including cake, rice cakes, fruit, and seaweed soup. Beyond providing food, the program focuses on fostering intergenerational connections by encouraging youth to engage in conversation and check on the well-being of the seniors.

The Baramkkot Youth Association has committed to making this a continuous effort rather than a one-time event. The local administration plans to expand the program with further participation from residents and local organizations to strengthen the community care network.
