Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün to remain in detention

The Istanbul 27th High Criminal Court has ruled to continue the detention of Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün and four others involved in a legal case concerning the municipality. The defendants include Deputy Mayor Ömer Kazancı and businesspeople Adem Çukur, Mehmet Kılıç, and Osman Yeşilgül.

During the hearing, Akgün denied all charges, specifically questioning the allegations of involvement in an organization. He defended his administrative actions and noted his continued efforts to address local issues while in custody. Defense lawyers requested the release of the defendants, citing a lack of evidence, but the court maintained the detention status. The next hearing is scheduled for November 16.
